Grade 100 Standard Black 5/16″ (3′ and 5′) Two-legged chain bridle has 2 Yoke grab hooks/chain shorteners mounted on a Yoke master link (Oblong) so each leg can be shortened for the job at hand. This is a great choice for rubber-tired equipment, track machines & other loads you transport that are not traditional wheeled vehicles. The Yoke foundry hook, with its wider opening works well in many applications. This apparatus makes simple straight connections, which prevents the chain from bending. If the place you are connecting your chain to is too big for the foundry hook, connect the grab hook directly. You also have the option of wrapping the chain & using the shouldered (cradled) grab hook.
Foundry Hooks
Foundry Hooks are a type of hook that are usually designed without a latch. These are typically used in applications where there could be a safety risk if humans connect or remove the load from the hook. Foundry Hooks are typically used on chain slings and are designed to have a wide, deep throat to fit trunnions and handles on molds or castings for foundry work, hence the name.
Cradle/Shouldered Grab Hooks
The “cradle” or the “shouldered” style of grab hook is replacing the standard or “non-cradle” style grab hook due to its improved support of the engaged chain link. This additional support often means there is no reduction to the Working Load Limit (WLL) when used as designed.
